Vermont Youth Documentary Lab

Established in the Summer of 2021 as an artist-run project of ORCA Media in Montpelier, Vermont (the ancestral and unceded land of the the Western Abenaki people), the Vermont Youth Documentary Lab hosts Summer youth media arts education programs in documentary and experimental filmmaking, video journalism, photography, and audio podcasting, with an emphasis on youth representation and social justice storytelling.

Our mission is to foster and facilitate youth media artists’ production of personal and creative documents, to lift up and celebrate the voices of Vermont Youth.

Short films produced by the Vermont Youth Documentary Lab have been featured on Vermont Public’s Made Here Series, Vermont Community Television, and the Freedom & Unity Young Filmmakers Contest.
